This facility will be unique to High Prairie and provide a partnership model for integration of other rural municipalities. It was initiated by the Peace Country Health Region, Northern Lakes College, and the Alberta Department of Human Resource Development, and will provide space for four distinct user groups.

The facility will allow greater efficiency in the delivery of services by building the individual strengths of the user groups and taking advantage of the collaboration that can about by sharing resources while providing a positive public presence within the community.

The facility will include a 30-bed acute care hospital, community clinics, a post secondary college environment for 200 students, and new workshops for human resource development and apprenticeship training. The facility will be located in the heart of the community on the site of the existing hospital. The programming and construction will be phased to allow the hospital to continue operations in its current location until the new facility is ready for occupancy.

As part of the redevelopment, a creek habitat that once flowed through the site will be restored, paying homage to the history of the site and the biodiversity of the region. This project aspires to be a 'green', healthy building that contributes positively to the occupants and community.
